People to People Seed Club Initiative at Havana

Lolita and I since the beginnings of our personal and email interaction with the US Professional Delegates through the People to People Ambassadors Program, as part of the hosting counterpart of the Havanatur Tourism Agency in Nov. 6, 2000, became aware of the importance of our efforts for the future peaceful relations between the Cuban, Cuban American and American peoples, before and after the political debate has passed to history.

Someday, the peaceful and cooperation relations of the most integral developed superpower with its nearby most disproportionate developing country, will be reestablished, and both neighboring countries will be able to give their maximum collaborating together to solve the greatest global problems that still affect the major part of the humanity in this 21 century: hunger, misery, ignorance, illness, etc.

Goal of the Havana People to People Seed Club

To formalize a social venue to reestablish trust and understanding with love and transparency between the Cuban and American peoples again, while the 46-year tense debate between our countries moves toward mutually advantageous resolution, and after it to build even more peaceful and cooperation relations

Activities of the Havana People to People Club

Since Nov. 6, 2000, by the initiative of the People to People Delegates, we have been exchanging professionally, and much more important, exchanging socially with pleasure about the more many things that we have in common than of difference, in a special kind of virtual club at Havana.

We have talked very much in the lobbies of the hotels, restaurants and home restaurants, where we have been invited by the delegates or friends or relatives of them in other visits. We have "talked" by email periodically with many delegates and their friends and relatives. We have also talked very much in the terrace, living and dining rooms of our apartment. We have had breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with many delegates, friends and relatives invited by us to our apartment, when they have returned to Havana, and have shared daily life for a week end, a week or two with some of them as in family in our apartment. We have walked through Havana, gone for a ride in our car through Havana, taken a sea bath and doing a picnic in Santa Maria del Mar Beach or in Varadero Beach, sharing in the old “Gato Tuerto” Night Club, Amadeo Roldan Theater, etc.

Lolita has accompanied some People to People visitors that have returned in one-day tours to Guamá Indian Village, where Cuba has a Treasure Lagoon, to Viñales Valley in Pinar del Rio, Youth or Pines Island, and to other places. When the PtP delegates, friends or relatives have wanted to visit distant places, we have instructed them how to do it till Santiago of Cuba. For us has been a pleasure to give the welcome and the farewell in the International Airport Jose Martí to our American friends.

We would like to continue doing these personal and virtual pleasant activities and many more with all our American friends, only both of us by the moment, until the restrictions and relations between our countries improve. After an opening that allows the existence of a real PtP Social Club with Cuban, Cuban American, and American citizens, we could even open our membership to many other Cuban friends of PtP at Havana, Cienfuegos, Villaclara, Matanzas, and rest of the provinces.

Possibilities of the Havana People to People Club

In the future, we could have a real physical Havana PtP Club, first, maybe renting a remodeled house into the Hemingway Marina Tourist Pole, near the Havana Club (before Havana Biltmore Yacht and Country Club), place of the farewell dinners for PtPAP/PtPI Delegations at West Havana in 2000-2003. Special educational, cultural, sport, and social activities could be done continue renting the cafeteria, rooms or a floor in that old Havana Club house and fields nearby.

Afterwards, perhaps we could build a new Havana PtP Yacht and Country Club to enjoy in a real beach the sun, sky and sea of East Havana, for example in the before exclusive Tarará Beach, where our both Cuban American families had houses, with also a Marina for yachts and fields for horses which could be restored or in Santa Maria del Mar Beach, where Lolita had before a beach house in the hill, both places at 18-22 km from Havana. Lolita as daughter of American and experienced architect could design by herself this new PtP Club House and Field.

All these places were very well-known by the US people that use to come to Havana to enjoy our superb weather in fall, winter, and spring from 1762 to 1960.
